84 students inducted into Kumasi campus of the Ghana School of Law
Some 84 students were on Friday (3 February) inducted into the Ghana School of Law – Kumasi campus to commence academic studies and attain the status of learned practitioners.
The director of the school, Barima Yaw Kodie who was speaking at a brief ceremony held at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) announced plans by management to expand legal education to train more lawyers and other judicial officers to improve the efficient delivery of justice.
This, he said, will augment the current number of legal practitioners in the country.
“We are partnering with institutions outside the jurisdiction of Ghana to provide scholarship opportunities for our students and lecturers” he indicated.
The ceremony was heavily attended by some Justices of the Supreme Court, the high court, and senior lawyers.
Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah used the occasion to advise the inductees on the need to uphold the ethics and dignity of the legal profession in high esteem.
“Legal education has not been easy anywhere in the world, especially in the western world. Please don’t take it lightly. Don’t think because you are a pharmacist the law profession is going to be easy for you”, he said.
Acting dean of the Faculty of Law, KNUST, Dr Chris Adomako Kwakye, urged the students to be open-minded as they seek to be high achievers.
