CDD Welcomes Akufo-Addo’s Call For NDC, NPP To Disband Vigilante Groups
The Centre for Democratic Development (CDD), has welcomed President Akufo-Addo’s call on the two major political parties to disband all vigilante groups linked to them.
The President who was speaking during the presentation of the third State of the Nation Address under the ruling administration in Parliament on Thursday said if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) don’t find lasting solution to curb the activities of the vigilante groups, he will initiate legislation to put an end to their nefarious activities.
This call has been welcomed by many who think the issue of vigilantism must be done away with before ‘it becomes too late’.
Adding his voice to this in an interview on Citi eyewitness news, Thursday, Kojo Asante, a Senior Research Fellow at CDD says in as much as the directive is ‘welcoming’, “we have to make sure it is coherent and leads to the objective that we want to have at the end of the day”.
