Coronavirus: Government commended for supporting private universities

Reverend Father Dr. Anthony Anomah, Rector of Spiritan University College at Ejisu, has commended the government for supporting private tertiary institutions in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus.

He said the government had shown leadership and commitment in the fight against the continued spread of the disease.

It was therefore important for the citizenry to reciprocate the gesture by adhering strictly to all the preventive protocols and restrictive measures put in place to contain the spread of the virus in the country.

Rev. Fr. Anomah gave the commendation when the University took delivery of quantities of Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) from the Ministry of Education to be used by final year students who have been asked to return to school to complete their academic work.

The items included two thermometer guns, five Veronica buckets, five gallons of liquid soap, 130 pieces of hand sanitizers, 391 face masks, among others. Rev. Fr. Anomah said the University management expressed its appreciation for the gesture and said strict preventive protocols had been activated on the University campus in line with the government’s directives. He appealed to the government to assist private universities through the Getfund, to help develop and improve infrastructure to enhance teaching and learning.
