EC suspends all engagements with PNC over leadership crisis

The Electoral Commission has suspended all engagements with the People’s National Convention (PNC) due to the leadership crisis within the party.

The letter dated 7 November and signed by the deputy chairman in charge of operations at the EC, Samuel Tettey, said: “I wish to inform you that, the Commission has decided to suspend all engagements with your party until the leadership crisis is resolved.

Dismissal
The National Executive Committee of the People’s National Convention (PNC) in September 2021 dismissed its 2020 flagbearer, David Apasera and chairman of the party, Moses Dani Baah.

It follows complaints of financial malfeasance and misconduct leveled against the two executives.

A communique issued by the party after its NEC meeting in Kumasi on Tuesday (7 September) asked its Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Bala Saliu Maikanka, to temporarily act as chairman and leader of the party.

The party has, however, reinstated its embattled General secretary Janet Nabla who was allegedly dismissed.
