Inflation rate for September 2022 hits 37.2%

The national year-on-year inflation rate was 37.2% in September 2022 which is 3.3 percentage points higher than the recorded 33.9% in August 2022, the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has said.

This means that in the month of August 2022 the general price level was 37.2 % higher than in August 2021.

According to the GSS, five groups recorded inflation rates higher than the national average in September this year.

They were Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other fuels (68.8%); Furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (451.1); Transport (48.6%); Recreation, sport and culture (36.4%); Personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services (36.0%) and Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (34.0%).
