Kumawu byelection: Bawumia calls on NPP supporters to vote massively for Ernest Anim

The Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has urged supporters to vote massively for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) candidate Ernest Yaw Anim in today’s byelection in Kumawu in the Ashanti Region.

The parliamentary seat became vacant following the death of the incumbent MP, Philip Basoah, on 1 March at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra.

Four candidates – Ernest Yaw Anim of the NPP, Kwasi Amankwaa of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwaku Duah, (independent) and another Kwaku Duah, also an independent candidate are vying for the seat in the stronghold of the governing party.

In a Facebook post on Monday (22 May), Bawumia said: “It was such a determined gathering at Kumawu yesterday. Many thanks to our party faithful and Kumawuman.”

“…I encourage all voters in Kumawu to vote massively for the hardworking and humble Ernest Yaw Anim,” he posted on Facebook.
