Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah wins in Manhyia South NPP primary to replace Napo
Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, a private legal practitioner, has won the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primary in Manhyia South. The primary, held on Sunday, July 14, 2024, saw Baffour Awuah secure an impressive 376 votes.
He outpaced Nana Owusu Prempeh, the brother of the outgoing Member of Parliament (Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh), who garnered 141 votes. Other contenders, James Owusu and Akwasi Coker Gyambibi, received seven votes and one vote, respectively.
Six aspirants had initially picked up nomination forms when nominations opened on Monday, 8 July.
However, only four submitted their documents by the close of nominations on Tuesday, 9 July.
Kwadwo Amankwaah Antwi and Abdul Rahman Diallo were unable to complete their submissions.
The primary was scheduled following the unanimous endorsement of the sitting MP, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
