Salaga: Bawumia and 40 MPs take VIP bus to attend Jawula’s funeral

Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia on Monday (6 February) attended the funeral of the late Lepowura Alhaji MND Jawula with over 30 MPs and New Patriotic Party (NPP) national executives in a VIP bus.

Bawumia and his entourage made the journey to the funeral grounds by road (115km about 1 hour and 50 minutes) from Tamale to pay their last respect to the veteran football administrator.

The MPs were led by the Majority Leader and MP for Suame, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Majority Chief Whip and MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Kennedy Osei-Nyarko – MP, Akim Swedru, Alex Tetteh – MP, Sefwi Akontombra, Sheila Bartels – MP, Ablekuma North, Farouk Aliu Mahama – MP, Yendi, Habib Iddrisu – MP, Tolon, Hassan Tampuli – MP, Gushegu, Iddi Abdullah – MP, Salaga North and Alex Agyare – MP, Kade.

Jawula died in the United States of America on 21 January 2023 after a short illness.

The Ghana FA, an organisation the late M N D Jawula led from 1997 to 2001, said it was saddened by his death and commiserated with the family in a post on Twitter.

Lepowura superintended the Black Starlets’ FIFA Under-17 World Cup triumph in 1995 in Ecuador.

Until his death, Alhaji Jawula was the chairman of the Premier League Management Committee (PLMC).

In private life, Alhaji Jawula was also the Lepowura of the Kujolobito Gate of Lepo-Kpembe in the Northern Region.
