Thousands queue for Ghana Immigration Service recruitment
Thousands of young Ghanaians queued on Monday (25 October) at El-Wak Sports Stadium in the capital, Accra, to go through recruitment processes for the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).
Speaking with Asaase News, most of them said they arrived at the stadium at dawn to secure an early spot to go through the screening process.
The queue extended from the stadium to beyond the Lands Commission office near Cantonments Post Office.
The head of public relations of the GIS, Superintendent Michael Amoako-Atta, told Asaase News: “It is unfortunate that when they came in the morning, the gates were not open, so you find them all outside.
“Now they are all being brought inside in an orderly manner for smooth screening.”
Amoako-Atta said the screening exercise is very important so that the Immigration Service can make physical checks to verify the information provided by applicants on the online application portal.
“The most important thing is that we want to be sure that the grades they entered into the system are the same grades that they have on their certificates,” he said.
“This is because they were alone with their machines and they can put in whatever grades they want, but this is the time for us to do physical checks.”
