“An agreement has been reached and we will naturally return to work,” the president of UTAG Prof Solomon Nunoo said on The Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (14 December). “This is an indefinite suspension of our industrial action.”
“We expect the government to make the first payment [as agreed upon] this month which will be paid as a part of our salary,” he told his host Kwaku Nhyira-Addo.
“We believe that it is important that there is harmony on the campuses, and it is for this reason that we should be seen in the offices very soon to serve our students in the various institutions,” he added.
The UTAG president said the government has admitted it failed to engage the teacher unions before introducing the conditions of service.
“We all know the hardships been experienced in the country and the government admitted that it didn’t do well in introducing the conditions of service without first engaging us,” he said.
