West Gonja: Samuel Jinapor rewards 15 best performing teachers

The MP for Damongo Samuel Abu Jinapor has rewarded some 15 best performing teachers in his constituency as part of his continuous efforts to enhance the standard of education in the constituency.

At a brief ceremony in Damongo last Friday (7 October), the MP, who doubles as the Minister of lands and natural resources said teachers have been instrumental in shaping society.

“I know the importance, the role and the impact a teacher can make and teachers do make in far away places,” he said.

Teaching and non teaching staff of the Ghana Education Service from kindergarten, primary, junior high school and senior high schools in the West Gonja Municipality were honoured with motorbikes, mattresses, television sets and laptops.

Najat Nyinji Seidu emerged the best female teacher from the Damongo Model Girls JHS and Iddrisah Abdul-Nasir came out on top as the best male teacher from Kurabaso JHS for the first edition of the MP’s Best Teacher Awards. They both took home brand new motorbikes.

The MP, however, said that teachers in the municipality are working tirelessly to bring more improvement in the standards of education in the area and he is very delighted to support them.

He said the aim was to motivate others to deliver quality education to school pupils in the area.

Jinapor also donated GHC100,000 to the teachers to start a welfare fund.
