The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a firm directive to its members, instructing them to refrain from discussing internal party issues in the media that could cause disunity and tarnish the party’s image.

The directive, signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, comes in response to increasing public expressions of frustration by party members following the NPP’s defeat in the recent elections.

In a statement released on Thursday, March 20, Mr Frimpong acknowledged the emotional distress among party faithful but urged calm and restraint to maintain party unity.

“Many of us, as party members, have, on several platforms, expressed our anger, disappointment, and frustration. However, we humbly ask that all party faithful remain calm so that cooler heads may prevail at this time,” the statement read.

The General Secretary cited Article 10(7)(5) of the NPP Constitution, which mandates the coordination of party activities, to justify the call for members to immediately cease discussions that create unrest, negativity, and disaffection in the media and other public platforms.

Additionally, the statement reminded members of Article 3(5), which enjoins all party members to promote and defend the good name of the NPP.

To ensure compliance, the party leadership at the national, regional, and constituency levels has been instructed to refer any violators of the directive to the appropriate disciplinary committees.

The statement concluded with a rallying call for unity: “Let us uphold the values of the NPP and work together to rebuild a stronger party for the future.”
